Boys Run Club grades 3-5 with different backgrounds

Project Goals/ Objectives

Regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence is important for promoting lifelong health and well-being and preventing various health conditions. The 2008 US Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years should have 60 minutes (1 hour) or more of physical activity each day. We will meet 2 times a week for 45 minutes for 6 weeks. Meetings to include team building and learning about healthy habits. We will work on establishing goals, learning how to and importance of stretching, breathing, pacing, endurance and finish with a 5K. The run club will be concluding with our boys running in the local Autism Societies 5K to help raise awareness.
