NE SNANC Meeting - Hot Topics for School Nurses: Asthma Blitz Day and Stop the Bleed

  • Edenton Baptist Church 200 South Granville Street Edenton, NC, 27932 United States (map)

Asthma affects over 9% of the public school population in North Carolina and is the top reason for school absenteeism related to illness. Asthma Blitz Days are a collaborative model encompassing assessment, education and evaluation of students’ awareness and compliance with asthma in a short amount of time. Participants will experience the Asthma Blitz Day model as they move through education stations mimicking how an Asthma Blitz Day works.

Stop the Bleed will enable the school nurse to recognize and control life threatening hemorrhage and prepare them to teach other school personnel how to control bleeding in an emergency. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on practice.
